Blast From the Past - Dovima

I present to you Dorothy Virginia Margaret Juba aka Dovima! A grand beauty, a 1950's american model. I must also brag about the fact that this lady had polish roots! Polish women have simply always been the most beautiful!
She was discovered by Irving Penn and later worked closely with Richard Avedon. She is been said to be the first "supermodel" of the fashion industry. In 1955 Avedon took a picture of her in a Dior gown in front of elephants. That picture became a classic.
She appeared in "Funny Face", the famous movie with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire.
I adore her look, she is my favorite 1950's model. The cheekbones, the dark hair and eyebrows. And of course that 50's waist, to die for!

Saint Laurent Goes Rock

The Fall/Winter 2013/2014 collection by Saint Laurent was inspired by Kurt Cobain. One may say that with the change of the name, a change of style occurred. Most critics referred to the collection as simply tacky. Head designer, Hedi Slimane, went a step further - a new campaign which does not feature models but controversial celebrities, such as Courtney Love or Marilyn Manson. Beauty and femininity has been replaced with rawness and... the lack of femininity. Slimane is remaking the former YSL. Is it a good thing? I don't think so, we already have enough such grunge designers, why throw away the elegance and class Yves Saint Laurent used to represent...?
Personally I'm not a fan of the idea, but if you look at the pictures as portraits of these people, you can see the hiding beauty beneath all the... quirkiness. You just have to give it up to black and white pictures...

Shalom Harlow

Shalom Harlow - don't you love how that sounds?! Well I certainly do. Moreover, I love what is behind that name - the beautiful canadian model.
She began her career in the early 90's and has had a fairly long career. She's done all the major covers ever since: Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle. She walked for all the Chanel's, Dior's, Klein's and Jacob's of the industry. More recent was the Spring/Summer 2008 campaign for Valentino and in 2012 a clip for Cartier. The last time she walked the runway was in 2009 for Viktor & Rolf. Still that was a quite long career, this year she is turning 40.
Look at this beauty, which was in the 90's such an iconic face as Kate or Naomi!

Those cheekbones!

Pure elegance!

Boscono - Italian High Fashion Model

I hate boring ordinary. The more interesting beauty, the better. A great example is Mariacarla Boscono, an Italian model with one of the most divine faces I have ever seen.
Countless are the campaigns she has done for the biggest in the industry, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Moschino, Christian Dior are just a few to begin with.
She is the muse of Givenchy's current head designer, Riccardo Tisci. Appeared in  numerous editorials in Vouge's, W Magazine or Elle.
Declared one of the top 30 models of the 2000's by Vogue Paris.
Enjoy this exotic beauty:
