Met Ball 2013 - "Punk: Chaos to Couture", no, seriously, from chaos to couture

My friend with disappointment asked me "Why do celebrities, when they have an occasion, blow it?". I genuinely wanted to say "Nah, they looked good!", but I couldn't. This years' met ball was a fashion tragedy in my opinion. One does not have to point fingers even, unless to point them to those well dressed, that would be easier. Giant wales dressing up as grandmas sofa, someone save us!
Anyway in this sea of drama I was able to spot some good looks. This is my "Best dressed" list. Thank you Burberry!

Cara Delevingne in Burberry

Greta Gerwig in Saint Laurent

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

Liu Wen in Alexander McQueen

Michelle Dockery in Burberry Prorsum

Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture

Sienna Miller in Burberry Prorsum

Tom Ford & Joan Smalls in Tom Ford

Daphne Groeneveld - My blond exception

Normally you wont catch me saying a good thing about blonds, I hate them. Maybe it's the stereotype, maybe most blonds I meet I find simply dumb, who knows. Anyway this one is an exception. Daphne Groneveld, blond beauty rocked my world! I mean look at those lips! Amazing! She has this charm about her too when she smiles in the most cute way in the world, I mean you can't dislike her!
This dutch darling is whooshing on the catwalks and doing editorials, her career is on the fast lane. She's walked for every important designer - from Chanel to Givenchy, from Jil Sander to Prada.
She's been on the cover of Vogue, is the star in the present H&M campaign, is the face of perfumes by Calvin Klein, Dior... Can one dream of a better portfolio? And all that with that heart warming smile and genuine! You go Daphne!

"You Are Not A Sketch - Say No To Anorexia"

As I have already written here, I am strongly against over skinny models. The size double zero is not one actually worn by normal people. With eating disorders being such a big issue among models, the campaign done by Star Models is a step forward towards, hopefully, change for better, change for NORMAL.
This campaign done by Revolution agency is quite schocking. On one side is a designer sketch of a woman, and on the other side is a photoshopped model - in such a way to make her look like the sketch.
This project spoke strongly to me and got my vote. I hope such events will start shaking the fashion industry and will spark that much needed change...

Spring Bags

Why do people always love to wear bright and colorful things in the spring? Who cares about "nature is coming to life" bs? Especially in Warsaw there is a trend to wear pastel colors (even pastel makeup, oh dear Lord save us). I've had enough! Black, and a tiny bit of white, revolution! Looking for bags I looked through net-a-porter.com. Of course I found gorgeous totes and clutches. Take a look and see for yourselves!

Black Spring Shoes

Yes, I worship black, no, I don't worship satan.
Anyhow the last couple of days I've spent looking EVERYWHERE for spring boots, high heels to be exact. And nothing. Malls, online stores, nothing elegant and black to be found. Finally I started looking on net-a-porter.com and other similar websites. There, of course, amazing shoes! But with equally amazing prices. Oh, will I live to the day when good shoes will not cost fortunes?
Below are some gorgeous boots I found on those websites. For now I'm just going to enjoy them visually. Bon appetit!

My Spring

Happy! Spring has FINALLY decided to show up in Warsaw! The sun has come out and even though it's still fairly cold hope has been born! Hope for warm weather!
Anyhow I'm still running around in my fur coat, that's not changed. Every time I put it on I thank God I bought it, one of the best investments in my life!
So below a pic of me (sorry, bad quality again) taken a few days ago by my friend Tina.
Fur coat and viscose blouse are from a thrift shop.
Shoes and leather pants are from Pimkie.
Glasses and bag from H&M.
Thats why I take no excuse for a bad look - it's really easy to find cheap, good quality and of great style clothes.
If you have any comments on the look feel free to write!

A close up of the blouse - it's transparent and has a cute ribbon tie

Black Spring

Although spring is not to be seen still in Warsaw, I have been completing my wardrobe with clothes for the season.
I've always been against the "colory-clothes" in the spring collections. I'm not a fan of color. As Coco Chanel said:
"Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony."
That is a statement I fully agree with. That's why while buying clothes for the season, in a store I go straight to the black and white ones.
Here are a few great elements I found that are definitely ones I am looking for or already have for the spring. In this post only clothes, in a few next ones I will post shoes, bags etc.
