Saint Laurent Goes Rock

The Fall/Winter 2013/2014 collection by Saint Laurent was inspired by Kurt Cobain. One may say that with the change of the name, a change of style occurred. Most critics referred to the collection as simply tacky. Head designer, Hedi Slimane, went a step further - a new campaign which does not feature models but controversial celebrities, such as Courtney Love or Marilyn Manson. Beauty and femininity has been replaced with rawness and... the lack of femininity. Slimane is remaking the former YSL. Is it a good thing? I don't think so, we already have enough such grunge designers, why throw away the elegance and class Yves Saint Laurent used to represent...?
Personally I'm not a fan of the idea, but if you look at the pictures as portraits of these people, you can see the hiding beauty beneath all the... quirkiness. You just have to give it up to black and white pictures...
